Bats, Bells and Banquets

A wee update on me and my LIFE. I have been moonlighting with the delectable Natasha Khan of Bat For Lashes. I will be touring with Bat For Lashes until September, starting in the UK April...gig of note, 17th and 19th April at The Shepherds Bush Empire...spreading like a happy disease through Europe and USA and hitting the festivalsin the summer. I'm happy as Larry because the music is so ACE and i not only get to play heavily chorused guitar a la The Cure, but get to play throbbingly fuzzed up bass, keyboards and twinkly bells. Check out the UK and European tour dates on the Bat site:

You may be wondering where that leaves me and my third solo album Cinnabar City...we-he-hellll next weekend i am making a video for the first single 'White' which is going to be AMAZING. No, really you must take my word for it. I am learning the song backwards which is incredibly weird and will be having paint thrown at me from all directions, whilst wearing a super sci-fi white dress. Think a happy Carrie from the future. I'll also be getting a whole load of new photos done and have gotta do a full make over of all my websites. I'll be blogging about the video next week and putting up pictures and videos of me getting splattered.

White is due for release over the summer, and the album will be out in September. I'll be doing solo festivals, and then will properly be out on the road Sep/Oct/Nov through to 2010. Jesus, 2010 looks weird written down. It's an impressive looking year. It looks very likely i'll be touring the States with Cinnabar as we've had loads of interest, this record is really striking a chord over there. Australia is also looking good for 2010 release.

Keep an eye out for updates y'all. It's going to be a very exciting year.

Sorry for being out of touch the last month, i have been rehearsing like a crazy witch for Bat For Lashes (and crazy witch is like, suuuuch a good look right now) and then have been whipping my artwork/video/photos into shape. I'm also moving out of my flat next week so have to pack up all my life again, LIKE I HAVE TIME FOR THAT SHIT! It's all going to be tremendously worth it though and i'll compensate by having a massive banquet with turkish delight and Champers and you will ALL be invited.

Thanks for your patience y'all. I really can't wait to get the show(s) on the road. CX

LATEST NEWS

Charlotte Hatherley’s new record CINNABAR CITY is the second solo album to be released on her pet label Little Sister Records. Never one for aligning herself to some spurious musical trend, Charlotte makes a virtue of having a true independent spirit that allows such an adventurous and eccentric approach to song writing to flourish in an increasingly unadventurous and compromised world full of safe landfill indie, bandwagon followers and weak-kneed solo artists. Cinnabar flits between prog-pop, pop-punk and electro-junk whilst still standing as an original, highly melodic and cohesive body of work, one that truly delivers the goods in these credit-crunched times. Recorded in a focused and frenzied week in South London with Luke Smith (ex-Clor) conducting, the tracks were thrown down live, Charlotte taking care of all guitar heroics, TV Gary on bass and Rob Ellis on drums. With a light dusting of Rundgren and Roxy keyboards sprinkled on top of the thick guitar filling and added sparkle provided by Alan Moulder (Arctic Monkeys, Smashing Pumpkins)the album now stands as a tasty slab of visceral thrills ready to be unleashed to the world in 2009.

MONKEYS

Dear peeploids,

I am very sorry to say that I won't be playing the Z008 festival today, as I was told at midnight last eve that the stage has collapsed. Zut Alors!! We were looking forward to playing to a bunch of monkeys, we're all rehearsed up and everything, I even made Gary the bass player buy some Topman jeans to spunk him up. The jazz explosion will have to wait a bit longer. Upcoming gigs are:

25th July Secret Garden Party
26th July Ben and Jerrys Festival
30th July Bush Hall in London

I guess this gives us times to rehearse up a few more new songs. Today we were gonna play 5 shiny new nuggets of fun: Colours, White, In The Beginning, Alexander, Vermillion. By the end of the month the whole album will be rocking your silky socks off.

More updates to come y'all.

MESSAGE FROM CHARLOTTE

ZE NEW RECORD

Greetings all!

Firstly, many apologies to those who were hoping to make it to the Islington Academy shows, they have been cancelled because i must record my next record...i simply must! The recording has been delayed because producer/writer extraodinaire Luke Smith has been in LA working on the Depeche Mode record and i've been waiting to schedule our session around him. The last 2 weeks of June have been given the green light so all June shows have been crossed off the list. The next shows will kick off in July:

July 6th - Z008 Festival
July 25th - Secret Garden Festival
July 26th - Ben and Jerry's Festival
July 30th - The Bush Hall in London
September 13th - End Of The Road festival

I won't be playing any old material, it will all be shiny nuggets of newness. All album songs are ready to be recorded live, and the band so far is Sir Luke Smith, Sir Rob Ellis and MOI.
